Narangi Anchalik Mahavidyalaya , leading institution of higher education was established in 1991 at the initiative of the people of greater Narangi area.
The college located at the southeastern part of Guwahati city has come a long way in spreading higher education covering ethnic and linguistic groups.
The college initially started its classes in the evening shift at Narangi High School on September 2, 1991. However, within few months, the college was shifted to its own permanent site in a beautiful spacious compound surrounded by green hillocks. The college has at present, required number of class rooms, library cum reading room, teacher’s common room, girls’ common room,boys’ common room, departmental rooms and union office room. With the completion of a new four storied building the college has now been fully self sufficient in accommodation.
With persistent and co-ordinated efforts of Governing Body and highly qualified teachers, the college has now developed into a full fledged institution providing an excellent opportunity among the teachers and taught.
The college offers Higher Secondary and Degree Courses in Arts and Commerce. The college has 10 departments with a staff consisting of about 45 dedicated and sincere permanent teachers.
In the wake of the changing needs of education, the college is proceeding towards introducing certificate course, in the following vocational subjects, namely computer hardware, mobile phone repairing, beautician, still/ video photography, electrician cum wireman and Montessori teacher training. The NECT , a leading institution of technical education of Guwahati city has extended help and co-operation in this regard. Besides the students of our college, others too will be allowed to take up the said vocational course at comparatively lower fees.
The college has a rich library with reading rooms, besides various departmental forums for enhancing knowledge and interest of students and others.
The untiring efforts of the teachers and others bore fruits, and students have come out with flying colours in both H.S. and TDC final examinations.Our student brought laurel to the college by securing first class first position in Economics (Major), besides getting first classes in various Major subjects regularly. The college has been maintaining an excellent record of academic performance in both Higher secondary and degree levels. The Principal, Vice Principal, teaching staff, office staff and Governing Body have been working tirelessly to make Narangi Anchalik Mahavidyalaya,the only institution of its kind, in the easternmost part of Guwahati, as one of the best colleges in the entire Northeast.
